Now that Christmas is over we look to the next party… New Year’s Eve!  I love having people over but always have a certain dilemma. If I go over to the party at 7… I will be hungry at midnight – so what do I take? Festive hummus is exactly what you’re thinking, too, right?

This Beef & Pomegranate Hummus is the solution.

It has plenty of protein to sustain you throughout the night and can be made in small portions or bulk – completely up to you!

I love frozen apps, but you heat them up and they get cold within 20 minutes. I love cold apps like fruit and veggie trays, but they aren’t exactly the epitome of elegance or festiveness.

What I love about this dish is it looks so festive and fun!  Perfect for a fancy (or casual) party.  I am serving this festive hummus dip with Naan dippers (because they are my absolute favorite for dips).

This year I will be in Israel for New Years, so I made this for Christmas and it was a hit!  As I have been researching for my trip, I have been really interested in what types of food to anticipate.  Hummus is definitely one of them AND they serve it with breads like Naan and I also learned figs and pomegranates are really popular in Mediterranean foods – so this dish is pretty cultural!

A couple of weeks ago I ran a poll on my Instagram wether to feature beef or lamb with this dish.  You can definitely do either – but I decided to feature what you guys want to see – the beef.  Lamb would also be delicious if you are into ground lamb!

Ingredients are simple, as always:

  • Hummus
  • Ground beef seasoned in a greek/mediterranean seasoning blend – I used Cavenders
  • Pomegranates
  • Pine Nuts
  • Parsley

Assembly is easy – just put everything on top.  I promise you will love this dip!  It is so delicious and perfect for your New Year’s Eve Party!

Festive Hummus for the win!

Beef and Pomegranate Hummus

  • Author: Abby Turner

Description

Beef & Pomegranate Hummus is the way to go when it comes to easy hearty appetizers that will take you minutes to make and have virtually no prep!

Ingredients

Scale
  • Classic Hummus (for 20 people you need 2×20 ounce packages)
  • 1 pound of ground beef seasoned with a mediterranean seasoning (like Cavenders)
  • 1/4c pomegranate arils
  • 1/4c pine nuts
  • Parsley for presentation
  • Serve with Naan or Crackers

Instructions

  1. Put hummus on the platter – I like to give it a nice swirl so it doesn’t look plopped.
  2. Layer the cooked ground beef down – I like to layer it diagonal to give some personality.
  3. Sprinkle with Poms and Pine Nuts
  4. Top with chopped Parsley.
  5. Enjoy!!
