How fancy is your table?

If there is one thing, besides cooking, that I enjoy – it is setting and decorating my table.  I love decorating the Christmas tree, but there is something that gets me so excited about a  fancy table, new set of dishes, new flatware and glassware.  It just sends all the feels up and down my body!

On a scale from 1-10, my table is ALWAYS, well the majority of the time, a FANCY table.

And I love it that way.

My table is an expression of my love for hospitality and for opening that space up to others whenever that might be.

I want to tell you about this table in particular though.

I had asked my cousin Jill if I could take some pictures at her house for the blog. She kindly obliged.  I might have offered to cook dinner for her and her husband.  Jay, Jill’s husband, actually made this table. It was in their first house together and they have had many memories around it.  How sweet is that. I feel like it is the story of a Hallmark Movie!  Of course, I had to decorate it and take pictures with it.

What I hope you see from this picture is that it’s not perfect.  It’s simply set. The plates don’t match, the napkins aren’t ironed, and the flatware isn’t straight. But the table is ready.  It is ready for guests to come over and ready for food to be eaten.  Also, who needs that many lemons? Absolutely no one.

All of these dishes are melamine and are from Target.  They cost me about $4 a piece and are super cute. Don’t get stressed about making everything perfect because it will NEVER be perfect.  And the majority of the time – people won’t notice one way or the other. I talk about this a lot in my cookbook!
