Simple Italian Meatballs

Simple Italian Meatball Bake

It has been so cold here in Arkansas lately; I have been cooking a lot! These Italian Meatballs are perfect for the weather.  In fact, I love the cold weather.  Secretly, I’ve always wanted to move up north and hibernate for the winter.  I find that life fascinating.  Now, I probably wouldn’t last long, hehe!  But, I like to day dream about it when our temperatures start dropping in the winter.

I really enjoy soups, because I like how I can cook them, I can eat them, and finally, freeze them.  They last forever, but sometimes, I crave a hearty meal like this Italian Meatball Bake.

And the best part, thanks to Walmart’s Sam’s Choice Italia line, these Italian meatballs are super easy AND tasty!

Simple Italian Meatball Bake

Here’s what you will need: Red Pasta Sauce, can of crushed tomatoes, fresh basil and oregano, fresh meatballs, mozzarella and finally, parmesan cheese.

I served the Italian meatballs with toasted loaf of Italian bread and Sam’s Choice Italia’s 4 cheese Risotto! In conclusion, it was Perfect! Because the 4 cheese Risotto took 15 minutes to cook, it was super easy!

Note: To get the cheese toasted on top, after you bake it, turn the broil on for 5-8 minutes at 525 so you get it nice and toasty!

I absolutely love this recipe and your family will love it because it takes no time at all! (more like this in my cookbook, here!)

Description

Even if it isn’t Italian night… your family will love this easy bake. Because of these easy ingredients, you will have this on the table in no time!  It’s going to be a staple in your house during the winter (and really all year round!). Hope you enjoy it!

Ingredients

Scale

1 package of 12 pre made fresh meatballs (raw)

1 24 oz. can of pasta sauce – I like the Sam’s Choice Italia Roasted Garlic Pasta Sauce

1 16 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese

fresh basil

fresh oregano

1 28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes

salt and pepper to taste

2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in cast iron pan (will need to be able to go in oven for the bake)
  2. Put 12 meatballs in pan on med-high heat and sear the outside of each meatball all the way around.
  3. Once meatballs are seared on outside (should look caramelized and crispy), take off heat and pour pasta sauce and crushed tomatoes in pan add 8 basil leaves and 3 tbsp fresh oregano leaves (about a handful)
  4. Put in oven on med-high and cook for 10 minutes or until meatballs are cooked through.
  5. Pull out and put mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top and put back in oven for 5 minutes to melt. Once melted, turn broil on to get a good char on the cheese.
  6. Serve on top of 4 cheese risotto or angel hair pasta.
  7. Enjoy!
